Dr Becky Funk is a graduate of Kansas State University, receiving both her DVM and MS in 2007. Following graduation, she spent 6 ½ years in Lexington, Nebraska with Fairview Veterinary Clinic, a mixed animal practice, where she concentrated her practice activities on farmer-feeder, stocker, and cow-calf clients in the Platte River Valley. From 2014 to 2019 she was in practice in Rushville, Nebraska where she was a partner in a three-doctor cow-calf practice. In January of 2020 she accepted a position with University of Nebraska Lincoln at the Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center in Clay Center, Nebraska as an Associate Professor of Animal Health and Extension Specialist. Currently she contributes to the team responsible for conducting senior clinical rotations in beef cattle and small ruminant medicine at GPVEC. She also served as the Interim Nebraska State Coordinator for Beef Quality Assurance in 2020.


She has been active in professional organizations throughout her career, being an active member of both AABP and AVC. She has served on the AVC board of directors, serving as the Board of Directors Parliamentarian during this time. She has been a member of AVC committees including the By-law/Policy and Procedures Committee and the Corporate Sponsorship Committee. She is currently finishing a term on the AVC Foundation Board of Directors. She is also a member of the AABP Foundation Board of Directors and has served on the AABP Amstutz Scholarship committee for several years. She has served on Program Committees for both the AABP Recent Graduate Conference and the AABP Annual Conference.


She and her husband, Jason, live in Lawrence, Nebraska with their two children, Riley and Cody, where they are active supporters of 4-H, FFA, and local youth sports, and can generally be found at one of these events in their spare time.
